The final piece of writing for The Hungry Toque Cookbook. A rather difficult moment in my writing career.
It was a sweltering autumn when I first arrived in town. From a few simple emails and phone calls I already had an exceptional family to stay with and a job in one of the stalwart restaurants of Revelstoke. I instantly felt at home from the hospitality of the people and the industry.
I will always seek to eat out in Revelstoke for the company it affords me and to enjoy the temporary art crafted by my new friends and family. Seeing similarities in the kitchens of Revelstoke with many of my past can be inspiring. ‘Home is where the Hearth’ is and all that.
Creating something is always personally difficult for me, it draws upon many a memory I wished to have left behind. A story that is one of daily hustle. I am both always happy with what I produce and still I know I am not yet content.
Tomorrow we will go back to work feeding people and working on the next chapter of the Revelstoke story, whether on another page or on another plate.
